Hey Farm Friends, I find myself at a bit of a cross-roads when it comes to the winter season. On the one hand, I adore the holidays. One of my love languages is gift giving, so these holidays allow me to shower my friends and loved ones with my affection through thoughtful and memorable gifts. On the other hand, winter has a way of taking a toll on my mental health. The days are shorter and colder and scraping ice off of my windshield always starts me off in a bad mood in the morning

Hey Farm Friends, Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you all are deep into your food comas and enjoying quality time with the family. While you are relaxing and contemplating that fourth plate while planning out your route for Black Friday sales, why not add our farm into your schedule? Hey Farm Friends, So much has happened since the last time I have had the opportunity to update the blog, so allow me to get a few thank you's and my appreciation out front. Thank you to everyone who made the Palmyra Self-Guided art tour a day to be remembered. We had so much fun getting to see you all and share the craft of fiber processing with you. We hope you learned something new about alpaca fiber and enjoyed MaryJane’s demonstration of the prep work involved for fiber processi

Hey Farm Friends, This weekend was unforgettable thanks to you all! We are so grateful to celebrate the 16th annual National Alpaca Farm Days together. We want to extend a special thanks to everyone who was able to come out to the farm, the Alpaca Owners Association for sponsoring the event, DMary's for providing delicious food for us on Sunday, Cindy Pollard with Transformations for creating such adorable face paintings, and the ones who made it all happen: Maryjane, Kathy, Dawn, an

Hey Farm Friends, Since we are closing out August, we want to remind everyone that this is the time to get our fall gardens planted. Typically in Virginia, our first frost dates range from mid to late October. So, in order to have our gardens ready to harvest before the frost, now is the time to get started. There is no place better to start than with soil. What do alpacas have to do with gardening? One of the best soil amendments on the market today is alpaca

Hey Farm Friends, At 26 years old, I consider myself to be a fairly crafty person with about a decade and change of art in my background. But I am a novice compared to MaryJane's 70 years of crocheting and knitting. So when MaryJane makes a recommendation, that is something I hear with the weight and emphasis it deserves. A lot of the time when getting started in a new craft, it can be difficult to find just the right teacher. So many crafters online go too fast or focus on aesthetic

Hey Farm Friends,It is fascinating how little things can drastically change the outcome of a person’s life. Sacred Acres Alpaca Farm may be 5 years old, but the mustard seed was planted in 1993 when the owner, Maryjane Cathers, bought a sweater. A simple, soft blue sweater spiraled into an adoration for alpaca. She "fell in love with the silky feel and the weight and texture of alpaca fiber." And true to form with the durability of alpaca fiber, she still wears it to this

Hey Farm Friends, There has been a creative bug around our little farm this summer. We hope everyone who had the opportunity to purchase one of our alpaca sweaters during our Christmas in Summer sale enjoys their new wardrobe pieces. For those of you who missed out, don’t worry, we do these types of sales periodically and we will definitely be doing this again. For August, we are focusing on our crafty friends. If you purchase more than 5 skeins of alpaca yarn, you will receive 10% o

Hey Farm Friends, It has been a busy month for our little farm. We celebrated our five year anniversary, started up a social media schedule, had many tours, visitors, and memories made along the way. As we finish out July and welcome August, we are running a sale on sweaters in our store, this includes capes and cardigans, for 20% off. Our alpaca woolen sweaters will last you a lifetime. With buildable pieces for your capsule wardrobe to statement pieces to create iconic looks, alpac

Hey Farm Friends! It is a hot day on our little farm. We hope (like our alpacas) you are staying indoors, soaking up the AC, and keeping cool. We had an unforgettably amazing time at our five year celebration. Welcoming so many guests to our farm and introducing them to our alpaca is always a rewarding experience for us. It is heartwarming to watch the excitement and wonder when others meet alpacas for the first time ever. Visitors enjoyed meeting the alpacas and learning

Hey Farm Friends! We are so excited for all of the changes and growth that we have seen over these past five years. It is truly amazing to picture how far we have come. We do hope you are able to come visit us tomorrow, July 16th from 11-4pm. We are especially looking forward to the ribbon cutting at 2pm.
